New Moon in Leo
New Moons are a time of reflection, this coming moon in Leo brings a much-needed sigh of relief, a boost of energy, and a new cycle of growth- offering us an energetic reset. Not only is this New Moon in the fiery sign of Leo, it is also the second new moon in a 30-day span after our Cancer New Moon on July 20th. After experiencing the past few intense new moons, this one certainly feels like a breath of fresh air, offering us a chance to focus on self-love.
What to Expect with Fiery Leo
We can expect an intensely energetic week ahead, Leo is all about basking in the glory of being ourselves and our personal uniqueness. Ruled by the Heart Chakra, this is a great time to put yourself out there and be open to the vulnerability that comes with the opening of the heart. Because this new moon is closely on the heels of the last one, the resulting fierce energy will supercharge your manifestation practice. The night before, the magical Black Moon, is the most powerful time for self-love rituals. Maybe investigate some of those creative projects you’ve been putting off, be open to the vulnerability that comes with showing off your talents and/or learning new skills, everyone starts somewhere! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Let yourself relax as you prepare for the celestial happening.

The zodiac sign Leo is represented in The Strength card, a beautiful indicator of mental and emotional strength. The Strength card teaches us that there is power in vulnerability, it inspires optimism and offers a boost of much-needed hope. These are strong aspects for us to experience as we approach and move through this mid-August turning point. Leo season, after all, invites us into our heart, deepens our ability to love more fully and purely, and asks us to boldly lead ourselves and others toward courageous and authentic goals. This fertile and energizing new moon invites us to step into our purpose.
Given the hardship endured this year, this new moon requires positive attention and respect. A great time to set intentions for your most hopeful, but within reach vision. Simply set intentions for the hopes, goals, and wishes that are most desirable for you, and then make them happen. Lunar intentions and goal-setting with the new moon is most effective when it has relevance to where you are today.
Another important thing to keep an eye on is our coming Mercury Retrograde, while this event isn’t until October, we can see Mercury beginning to position itself properly. Mercury is a crucial cycle that we all ought to be aware of. The Master of Communication has reached the far side of the Sun, where he lines up straight with the Sun and Earth. A superior conjunction, where he will shift from a morning star into an evening star by the end of the month. From this point he begins his journey back towards Earth and the next Mercury retrograde in October. Mercury is our personal representative. He is working on our behalf in search of opportunities, often saving us from ourselves.

As we move into Virgo season now. Virgo is known as a mutable sign in astrology. It marks the gradual transition from summer into autumn. The days are getting noticeably shorter, but it is still summer, so make the most of this wonderful time of the year.
