New Moon in Libra

October has brought us some of the most intense astrology of 2020 so far – and that’s saying a lot, amirite? For starters, we have double Full Moons this month with the full moon in fiery Aries to start us off, met by our Halloween full moon in grounded Taurus. All balanced by the New Moon in Libra on October 16th. Libra is an air sign, ruled by the heart chakra and represented by the scales – fitting as the heart chakra is known to balance the upper and lower chakras in the body.

Libra New Moon

The heart chakra is our center and with Libra the harbinger of balance we are moving towards finding that center. Balance of harmony, balance of shadow and light, balance of good and bad feelings. What’s important to remember here as we begin to breathe our sighs of relief is, we cannot have light without dark. Honor the darkness, honor those feelings and thank them for what they did for you, because they did serve a purpose. Our darkness is not an innate part of us we should aim to get rid of. Our darkness should be met with curiosity and courage because without fully understanding our darkness, we cannot fully embody our light.

“I am balanced. I will work on my shadows while increasing my light.”

The New Moon in the sign of Libra starts a good cycle in which to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the scales. We have a chance, right now, to build our negotiating skills without compromising our principles or needs, and without resorting to appeasement. It’s a time to work on re-balancing our relationships and to recognize our partners as teammates rather than adversaries.

With this potent Libra energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. Some of Libra’s “lessons” involve learning to make peace with those around us, as well as in our environments, establishing a sense of order and balance in our lives, and recognizing the value of partnerships. This is a time to work on these skills.

Libra has an innate ability for, and love of, synthesizing opposites. Peace and harmony are the goals, but there’s a fine balancing act involved along the way that requires some commitment and effort.

This New Moon brings fresh and creative energy into our lives, and more specifically, into our relationships. This is a cycle in which balancing our close personal relationships becomes an urgent desire. Negotiations may be especially effective, as we are inclined to assert our needs in ways that don’t offend others. Even so, there are obstacles and opposition to overcome with difficult aspects, and the route to peace may be a conflict-ridden one!

The new moon in Libra is sending some seriously good vibes your way, and they can set off a chain reaction that’ll give your life a solid boost. This particular new moon has a focus in fortune, balance, and gratitude. You may be feeling deep seeded emotions of lack, fear of scarcity, or wanting to increase your income with a raise or side hustle. But as you push yourself to reach new heights you’ll feel immensely aware of the blessings in your life. Being grateful for the things you already have can only make space for improvements, upgrades, and growth. While you’ll be looking for balance in all areas of your life including relationships, career growth, and achieving those goals. Thanks to that Libra energy you may also be feeling a little impatient, wanting to check that box immediately rather than after a little hard work. I get it, but try to remember that some things are worth waiting for.
