New Moon in Virgo
The Virgo New Moon on September 17 is the first in a line up of three Super New Moons over the coming months. This trio of Super Moons then leads us into a Total Solar New Moon Eclipse in December, which will activate and open a portal to a bright new beginning. New Moons are the start of a lunar cycle, so this line up of Super New Moons intensifying into a Solar Eclipse indicates that we are shifting into a new paradigm that will open on Eclipse day.
Virgos are blessed with a powerful intelligence and equally cursed with a leaning towards self-criticism and judgment. They can turn that ‘laser beam’ of perceptiveness on anyone, anytime, but mostly it’s focused on themselves. That said, this perfectionism can drive them to heights of achievement, fame and success which other, more laid-back, star signs can only dream of. This New Moon in Virgo may have you looking closely at your own level of organization, maybe placing judgement on yourself as you search for clarity in routine.
The Ruler of Virgo
Virgo is ruled by Mercury and this makes them smart, organized, communicative and fast. They also know how to present a ‘good face’ to the world. Use this time to gain clarity on the minute-details of your life, you’ll find comfort and safety in order right now. But remember that we cannot control and schedule everything in life. There is a certain level of chaos that we have to embrace, especially so as we jump into new beginnings. Try to focus on what you can control, take steps to get organized, and make plans that will carry you through these shifts we are experiencing.
The digestive tract, colon, and rectum are ruled by Virgo— stomach ailments such as ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome are not uncommon in this sign. They are known to be very peculiar about things, and that includes whatever they put into their bodies. Much like their personalities, their bodies are continually struggling to clean out the excess, to remove what's unnecessary, like outward displays of emotion, and this constant striving for perfection can lead to suppressing their "gunk."
Opening the Root Chakra
Now is the time to unblock your root chakra, the first chakra located at the base of the spine. The first chakra is associated with security, safety, and survival. This is where we work to meet our basic needs: food, sleep, shelter, self-preservation, etc. and where we search for our aspects of self, support, and foundation for living our lives.
Our New Moon in Virgo Mantra is:
“I release the things I cannot control and ground myself in the things I can.”
To open your root chakra, find ways to ground yourself in earthly activities like hiking, swimming, or meditation. Move your body with my New Moon in Virgo Yoga while giving yourself permission to feel safe and secure in your body.
How will you be finding security during these new beginnings? Where will you be gaining clarity and structure in your life? Don’t be afraid to set goals and feel those feelings of a fresh start for yourself.
